Insomniac Games has made it clear to fans eagerly awaiting updates on Marvel’s Wolverine for the PS5: news will be shared only when they decide it’s time. The developer emphasized its commitment to releasing information on its own schedule, refusing to bow to external pressure.
The topic came up in a Twitter exchange regarding the Spider-Man 2 PC port. A follower took a jab at Insomniac Games, accusing them of sidelining PS5 gamers who are hungry for Wolverine updates. The comment, dripping with sarcasm, labeled the developers as a “great team” in a biting tone.
Typically, Insomniac doesn’t engage with such tweets, but this time their social media team chose to respond. They stated, “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” highlighting the word “we.” The message continued, noting that they can’t respond to every request, especially when these steps require time, resources, and authorization before information can be disclosed.
In their response, Insomniac did assure fans that work on Wolverine is “actively” ongoing.
The studio also experienced a major setback at the end of 2023, facing a ransomware attack that resulted in the unfortunate leak of significant alpha footage from Wolverine. Despite expressing their disappointment, Insomniac reassured fans that this breach hasn’t derailed the game’s development or their plans for its eventual announcement.
Marvel’s Wolverine was first unveiled in September 2021, and since then, updates have been sparse. The lengthy development cycle isn’t unusual in the gaming industry these days, so fans might need to be patient a little while longer before they get a glimpse of actual gameplay.
