I’m always on the hunt for creative and lesser-known roguelikes, and I’ve stumbled upon a gem. Rollscape, with its unique focus on crafting powerful dice combos, has been quietly making waves on Steam since its launch in 2024. Recently, it rolled out its third significant update, brimming with exciting new features that completely alter the gameplay. If a fresh roguelike experience is what you’re after, Rollscape is definitely worth your time.
At its core, Rollscape is all about racking up points. You kick things off with a limited number of dice rolls, each one laying down tiles that push your score higher. As you accumulate more points, you can upgrade these tiles, boost future rolls, and try to progress as far as you can. Like in any solid roguelike, you’ll find yourself unlocking synergies and making strategic decisions—taking the wrong path or running out of rolls sends you right back to square one.
If that’s piqued your interest as much as it did mine, here’s some great news. The latest update from developer Leonardo the Vinchy shakes up everything you know about Rollscape. For one, there’s an expansive new meta-progression system featuring a sprawling reward tree, new mechanics, and innovative ideas designed to enhance your journey through the game. There are also over 50 game modifiers to collect, each dramatically altering not just how you succeed, but how you approach the game from the get-go.
Among the fresh content are new dice, such as the influential D20, which can turn your strategy on its head and spice up your path to victory. As you delve deeper, you’ll also uncover new locations and artifacts, presenting you with tough choices and specific perks, allowing your synergies to evolve in intriguing ways.
There’s even a new Trials roguelite adventure mode and a battle pass to tackle, although Leonardo the Vinchy is clear there are no microtransactions involved. To access much of the fresh content, you’ll work through these. Additionally, you’ll find loads of dice and tile skins with unique effects, plus entirely new game mechanics, though the developer is keeping those under wraps. For a change of pace, you can also dive into a free-play mode to enjoy the game at your own speed.
This is indeed a hefty update. Rollscape has been thoroughly revamped with a mountain of new content, whether integrated into the main experience or offered as additional features for you to explore.
Alongside the update, Leonardo the Vinchy has announced a 30% discount on Rollscape, bringing the price down to $5.59 / £4.68 until Saturday, April 19. You can snag it here.
