It’s a real downer to see how Prismatic Evolutions has disrupted the Pokémon Trading Card Game scene. Thanks to bots, scalpers, and less-than-stellar enforcement by the Pokémon Center, cards from this latest, exciting set vanished from the shelves—sometimes before the public even got a whiff of the pre-orders. And that’s unfortunate, because this collection is truly a gem. It’s no wonder special edition cards are fetching outrageous prices on the resale market.
Let’s take a step back for a moment, though. These sky-high prices won’t stick around forever. The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) is working overtime to churn out reprints and ensure there’s more stock available. Plus, this set will continue to drop in various boxed forms throughout 2025, so eventually, people will relax a bit. But right now? We’re not there yet. Seriously, don’t throw your cash at these inflated prices unless you’re under some magical spell or desperate for that one card to fend off a sinister sorcerer. It’s just not worth it.
If you happened to snag a pack or two and are itching to make some quick cash from those less wise to what’s happening here, now’s your chance. Go ahead, you opportunistic rogue.
Normally, when I compile these galleries for a set, there’s typically just one card that might creep over the $100 line. By the time we hit the bottom of the top ten, we’re usually seeing prices drop into the $20s and teens. Not so with this set – we won’t be dipping below $200 for any of these coveted pieces. Seriously. To find a card under $100, we’d need to extend the list to 18 deep.
Keep in mind, these prices are current as of now, but they’re subject to the unpredictable dance of market demands and collector craze.
