Today marks a major release for boxing sim enthusiasts as Halfbrick Studios, alongside Ian Fitz, the innovative mind behind the original 2016 title, unveils the much-anticipated sequel to The Thrill of the Fight. It’s now available on Quest through Early Access.
This sequel represents a complete overhaul of its predecessor, now playable on the Quest lineup, including Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. While the original game primarily featured player versus environment (PvE) battles, the sequel’s launch packs a punch with its newly introduced—and heavily requested—online player versus player (PvP) boxing.
In an early release statement, Halfbrick Studios emphasizes that the game will initially focus exclusively on multiplayer modes, catering to fans eager to dive into online play without delay. Rest assured, single-player content, along with enhancements to the multiplayer experience, are in the pipeline and will roll out progressively during the Early Access phase.
Halfbrick Studios has ambitious plans extending into 2025, aiming to enrich the game with single-player content such as competitive AI that boasts dynamically generated behaviors and appearances, additional training modes, and much more. Expect a steady stream of updates throughout Early Access, designed to expand and refine this immersive gaming adventure.
Currently, players can enjoy customizable avatars, an online PvP mode featuring skill-based matchmaking, and physics that promise a truly authentic boxing experience. Notably, The Thrill of the Fight 2 also includes a spectator camera option, where your matches can be viewed by others from a connected PC using a ‘live sports’ style camera.
For those eager to start swinging, The Thrill of the Fight 2 is priced at just $10 on the Horizon Store. Lace up your gloves and step into the ring today!
