Although IGN recently reported updates on the pre-order schedule for the Nintendo Switch 2 in North America, Nintendo has yet to officially announce any changes. According to IGN, the FAQ section on Nintendo’s pre-order page still indicates that the first round of invitations to join their pre-order program will be distributed on May 8th. Interestingly, this date has been the same since the FAQ was initially made public on April 2nd, just a couple of days before the delay was announced. We’ve double-checked this information using a Wayback Machine snapshot from the original launch of the page.
The rollout for Switch 2 pre-orders faced delays mainly due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, which significantly affected the shipping of Switch 2 systems to the U.S. Thankfully, many of these tariffs have been largely eased following a temporary 90-day suspension. Despite this, Nintendo has not yet provided any updated plans regarding pre-orders in North America.
