Snail Games, the creators behind Ark: Aquatica, have pointed fingers at their marketing team regarding the recent AI-enhanced trailer release. Speaking with Aftermath, lead game designer Matt Kohl revealed that artificial intelligence was used for animating the video, a decision he wasn’t privy to.
Kohl expressed, “Our marketing department handled that [trailer]. They took our assets and ran them through AI for animation. It was purely a marketing decision. Our development team had no involvement, and AI hasn’t been used in creating Aquatica.”
Following its release at GDC, the new trailer for Ark: Aquatica, an expansion for Ark: Survival Evolved, received criticism, with one viewer commenting, “This is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves.”
Studio Wildcard, the team behind Ark: Survival Evolved, made it clear via a Twitter post that they are not associated with this particular project.
