Delays often seem to be part and parcel with PlayStation’s first-party exclusives, much like cereal and milk. While they might be frustrating for eager fans, these delays usually serve a purpose: allowing developers the time they need to deliver the highest quality product. That seems to be the case for the eagerly awaited live-service game, Fairgame$, which now appears to be on hold until 2026.
Recently, Jeff Grubb, a respected voice in the gaming industry, shared some insights during his Game Mess Decides podcast. He mentioned that Haven Studios’ upcoming competitive heist game, Fairgame$, isn’t set to launch this year anymore and instead has been pushed to 2026.
“No Fairgame$ this year,” Grubb stated. “It looks to be delayed until 2026, as far as I know.”
As for why the game is facing this delay, there hasn’t been an official explanation yet. Given Grubb’s track record for accurate information, there’s likely some merit to his claims, but without a formal announcement from Haven Studios, we remain in the dark. Fans will just have to be patient until the studio officially addresses the new timeline for the game’s release.
Fairgame$ first came into the limelight back in 2023. Apart from revealing this exciting new IP, Haven Studios has kept details about the heist game under wraps. However, Chris Dring, former head at GamesIndustry.biz, hinted at hearing “good things” about it during an episode of GI Microcast.
Sony’s journey into live-service games hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing. Despite the success of Helldivers 2, another title, Concord, is considered one of PlayStation’s least successful ventures. Grubb also reported that Concord’s disappointing performance led to the cancellation of other live-service projects. In light of this, Sony seems to be reassessing its approach, with reports of them reviewing projects across all its studios.
