Bless the water horse, indeed—it seems many are hoping to add it to their Pokedex! Recently, the details surrounding the exciting “Road to Unova Tour” event have finally been unveiled, and they give us plenty to look forward to. This event is bridging the gap between the in-person and global “Unova Tour” adventures.
Set to kick off at 10 a.m. local time on Monday, the “Road to Unova Tour” stretches until the global tour begins on Saturday, also at 10 a.m. local time. Throughout this event, players will have the chance to pursue the legendary Pokémon from the Black and White series—with the exception of Kyurem—and a mythical creature. These coveted Pokémon will also feature prominently in 5-star raid battles, the second-highest difficulty tier. Mark your calendars: Genesect is available to challenge on Monday, followed by the “Swords of Justice” trio (Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion) on Tuesday, the “Therian Forms” of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus on Wednesday, Reshiram on Thursday, and Zekrom on Friday. Completing these raids rewards players with a special background for their caught legendary Pokémon and unique moves. These special techniques include Genesect’s Techno Blast, Scared Sword for the Swords of Justice, Tornadus with Bleakwind Storm, Thundurus with Wildbolt Storm, Landorus with Sandsear Storm, Reshiram with Fusion Flare, and Zekrom with Fusion Bolt—all moves that typically require an “Elite” TM to learn. You’ll find these legendary creatures dominating gyms every day from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.
Alongside the battle pass, three additional tickets are up for grabs. These include the previously announced “Masterwork Research” for acquiring a shiny version of the mythical Meloetta, as well as tickets offering enhanced bonuses for egg-hatching and raid participation throughout the Unova Tour. The egg ticket comes with opportunities to encounter region-specific Pokémon like Bouffalant in the northeastern U.S., Maractus in the southwestern U.S., and Sigilyph in Egypt and Greece. Meanwhile, the raid ticket provides resources to power up legendary Pokémon and extra rewards for raid victories. Each of these tickets is priced at $4.99, or the equivalent in your region.
There’s even a fresh, more visually appealing upgrade coming to the game’s Pokedex, just in time for the event’s start—a sneak peek that was dropped in a seasonal trailer. Furthermore, the somewhat controversial cap of five “remote” raid passes per day is being lifted to 20 on Monday, and entirely removed for the weekend. Traditionally, these changes align with the event’s kickoff in the easternmost time zones, which means North American players might see this update go live later on Friday.
