Meta has inked a multiyear partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), becoming its ‘Official Fan Technology Partner’. This collaboration suggests we might soon see a deeper integration of UFC’s electrifying mixed martial arts events across Meta’s platforms, including Quest.
The UFC is eager to tap into Meta’s leading-edge technology to create unparalleled connections with millions of its fans globally. This effort will span an impressive array of Meta’s tools and platforms, like Meta AI, Meta Glasses, Meta Quest, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.
Part of this agreement designates Meta as the ‘Official AI Glasses Partner’ of the UFC. The plan? To explore creative uses of their innovative AI glasses at UFC events, making the viewing experience even more engaging.
“I’ve partnered with many greats in the industry, but what Mark and his team at Meta have in store for the UFC fans is on another level,” commented UFC President and CEO, Dana White. “Meta’s tech wizards are poised to redefine fan engagement. We’re already working on groundbreaking ventures, including an innovative fighter rankings system I’ll reveal soon. These upcoming years will truly transform the sport for everyone,” he added.
Interestingly, Mark Zuckerberg himself has become somewhat of a UFC aficionado over time, even participating in several Jiu Jitsu competitions. This makes the collaboration that much more meaningful. “I’m thrilled to join forces with the UFC and offer fans novel ways to immerse themselves in the sport I adore,” said Zuckerberg.
Earlier this year, Dana White took on a new role by joining Meta’s board of directors alongside John Elkann, CEO of Exor, and tech investor Charlie Songhurst.
As for what this partnership means for Quest users, specific details remain under wraps. However, Meta promises UFC integrations during all major events like Pay-Per-Views and Fight Nights, including prominent brand placements right within the iconic Octagon and inventive in-arena fan experiences.
Additionally, this deal will feature unique and exclusive UFC content on Meta’s social platform, Threads. It builds on their initial collaboration in 2022, where 180-degree Fight Pass livestreams were introduced to Horizon Worlds and the Xtadium app on Quest. This new partnership seems aimed at expanding UFC’s reach on Quest, providing even more exposure for its thrilling matches.
Stay tuned, as the companies promise more exciting details about this partnership are on the horizon.
