Acer has just dropped a bombshell with the launch of six fresh models in the Radeon RX 9070 series, showcasing both base and OC variants that can boost all the way up to an impressive 3.1 GHz.

Recently, the spotlight shines on Acer, a long-time but not overly prominent partner of AMD, as they’ve unveiled their latest RDNA 4 GPUs. These come in two distinct flavors: BiFrost and Nitro editions. In total, there are six new models spread evenly across these editions.
The lineup features two Nitro versions for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070, alongside a BiFrost edition for each. The BiFrost models stand out with top-notch aesthetics and an efficient cooling setup, while the Nitro versions are geared more towards mainstream users, yet they don’t skimp on performance specs.
Taking a closer look, the BiFrost editions lead with the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB. It boasts a triple-fan arrangement, accentuated by a stylish design with silverfish highlights around the center fan. The innovative FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans combined with a counter-spin feature ensure effective heat management. The card measures about 295 mm long and is 2.5 slots thick. Thanks to factory overclocking, it hits a 3.1 GHz boost, promising a powerhouse gaming experience.
Interestingly, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB looks quite similar but needs only two 8-pin power connectors, as opposed to the XT’s three. Despite both cards being rated at 340W, which is unusual given the standard RX 9070 demands less power. In practice, two 8-pin connectors plus the PCI-E x16 should handle the 340W requirement adequately, though the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC has more room for overclocking headroom.
Moving on to the Acer Nitro lineup, this series offers both OC and non-OC versions for each RX 9070 model. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC shares the triple-fan design, achieves a 3.1 GHz boost, and is 2.5 slots thick, just like its BiFrost counterpart. It packs three 8-pin connectors and is rated with a 340W TDP. Meanwhile, the non-OC version is slightly scaled down to 304W but still keeps all three connectors. Running at a maximum of 2970 MHz in boost mode and up to 2.4 GHz in game mode, it’s no slouch either.
The Nitro series also includes the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB variants, reaching boost clocks of 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC model gets a 245W rating, while the non-OC is at 220W, both maintaining the same sleek design.
On the pricing front, Acer hasn’t laid all cards on the table yet. However, they’ve disclosed that the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will command a hefty $829.99. Given this, it’s fair to anticipate that the BiFrost editions will fetch even higher prices. While exact availability dates remain under wraps, Acer disclosed that the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC will hit U.S. shelves in April.
