The Binary Mill, the indie studio behind the XR experience, has exciting news for fans of space adventures with their release of “Into Black” set for PSVR 2. This game, which previously was only available on Quest, brings its exciting Deep Rock Galactic-style gameplay to a new platform.
Initially hitting Quest in October, “Into Black” offers both solo and four-player cooperative modes where players can engage in resource scavenging, tool upgrades, and ship repairs. The game’s more than 20 levels feature distinct biomes, where players have to fend off various enemies to collect the necessary parts to escape the perilous alien planet.
A noteworthy addition to the PSVR 2 version is the inclusion of the ‘Singularity’ mode. This PvPvE feature pits players against up to 11 others in an intense online competition. The studio teases, “Forge uneasy alliances as you navigate an ever-shrinking maze. Gather as much loot as you can, but if greed gets the better of you, you may not make it out at all.”
The PSVR 2 version of “Into Black” isn’t just a simple port but an extensive upgrade. Expect revamped environments, improved lighting dynamics including HDR and shadows, and advanced haptic feedback courtesy of the PS Sense adaptive triggers and the distinctive rumble feature of the PSVR 2 headset.
While it’s confirmed that cross-play with Quest won’t be available at launch (as clarified in an update from the studio), fans are still eagerly awaiting a comprehensive trailer to truly showcase the PSVR 2 enhancements. Meanwhile, the studio has released a few promising images and snippets to give a taste of what’s to come.
Although there’s no specific release date yet, The Binary Mill assures fans that the game will be arriving “soon.” In anticipation, players can add “Into Black” to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
