Stalker 2 has definitely hit a few bumps with bugs, but GSC Game World is on it with a new patch coming soon to smooth things over.
Earlier this week, Stalker 2 finally made its debut, though it stumbled a bit out of the gate. Despite its initial state, Connor here managed to overlook those flaws in his review. While reactions have been mixed in the gaming community, the game is performing well on Steam, and eager modders have already tackled some of the stuttering problems. Fortunately, official fixes are on the horizon. GSC Game World announced on the game’s official Steam page that a patch is on track for release within the next week, marking the first update since launch.
Their post reads, “The game has been out for several days now (it’s still surreal to say that), and we’ve been following your feedback in all possible forms carefully. To the more than one million stalkers in the Zone, thanks for playing — that means the world to us. We are sure you have things to handle in the Zone, but so do we.” While it doesn’t dive deep into every single issue, it provides a decent preview of what this patch will address.
For starters, you can expect fixes for crashes caused by things like memory allocation failures. They’ll also address bugs hindering the main quest progress, such as NPCs getting stuck in objects or incorrect quest markers. In addition, there will be tweaks to gameplay and balance, including adjustments to NPC behavior and weapon pricing, along with some cutscene and visual improvements. More details are available, but you might want to check those out on your own.
At the tail end of their update, they mentioned a couple of issues that will be tackled in further patches: some players have noticed dead zones in analogue sticks, and the A-Life system has been a point of contention among many players. Unfortunately, there’s no specific timeline for these particular fixes, so patience will be key until they roll out.
