Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual on the planet, is set to venture into the gaming world by launching a new studio. Musk, who recently found common ground with President-elect Trump, seems ready to make his mark in this creative industry.
Outlining his somewhat nebulous ideas on X, the platform he acquired in October 2022 (formerly known as Twitter), Musk made his announcement to an audience that’s been dwindling since the US election. On the morning of November 27, he remarked, “Too many game studios […] are owned by massive corporations.” This was followed by the revelation that his own large company, xAI, intends to open an AI game studio with the aim of “making games great again.”
xAI presents itself as an organization dedicated to developing artificial intelligence to boost human scientific progress, driven by their mission of enhancing our understanding of the universe. Perhaps their most notable creation so far is Grok, a bot similar to ChatGPT, which is available to X Premium subscribers. Musk established xAI in March 2023.
Regardless of these developments, it seems those in the gaming field who have moved away from X to other platforms might still have to keep tabs on Musk. He’s forming a closer relationship with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who has a reputation for supporting his business allies and not shying away from making adversaries.
