Rebecka Coutaz, known for her leadership at DICE, has now taken on an additional role at UK developer Criterion. She’s stepping up as Vice President and General Manager of Battlefield Studios Europe, according to a report by GI.biz. Criterion has been a crucial part of developing EA’s renowned shooter series since they pitched in for Battlefield 1 back in 2016. Moving forward, they’ll continue collaborating with their counterparts at Motive and Ripple Effect across the pond in the United States.
Coutaz’s journey with DICE began in November 2021 when she assumed the role of VP and GM, after leading Ubisoft’s Annecy studio. “Since I started at DICE in 2021, I’ve had the fantastic opportunity to work alongside an exceptionally talented and diverse team,” Coutaz shared. “I feel incredibly privileged to take on this expanded leadership responsibility, guiding the future of two legendary studios, each boasting its distinct and rich legacy.”
She expressed her ambition for DICE and Criterion, saying, “These studios are trailblazers in the European gaming arena, and I aim to empower our teams to push creative boundaries and bring innovation to the forefront, enhancing the player experience. By harnessing the creativity inherent in each studio, we’ll continue to grow the Battlefield franchise on a global scale—alongside our counterparts at Motive and Ripple Effect—building a legacy for future generations. It’s a thrilling time as we carve the future of Battlefield, and I’m eager to welcome passionate individuals ready to embark on this exciting journey with us.”
