Indie game studio Chipo y Juan is gearing up to launch their intriguing mixed reality title, Detective VR, which draws inspiration from Minority Report. The game is set to hit the Quest platform next week, and fans are buzzing with anticipation.
Detective VR, set for release on February 27th for both Quest 3 and 3S, binds together engaging storytelling with interactive gameplay, allowing you to control time, gather clues, and question witnesses—all within the comfort of your own living room, thanks to its unique Passthrough mode.
Blending elements from popular titles like Return of the Obra Dinn and Immortality, along with the cinematic feel of Minority Report, the game promises that sleuthing won’t always be a straightforward affair. As you swap between mixed and virtual reality, you’ll find that not all testimonies are trustworthy, pushing you to face suspects head-on.
Exclusively available on the Quest, Detective VR offers around five hours of narrative-rich gameplay. You’ll have control over the timeline—rewinding, pausing, and playing scenes to uncover hidden clues. The game’s characters are brought to life by a talented cast who have graced screens in series such as The Crown, Succession, and Doctor Who. Performers like Luke Mably, Angus Wright, and Melissa Bright lend their voices and movements to the immersive experience.
This creative venture comes from the Marseille-based Chipo y Juan studio, which has a track record in VR projects, including the narrative experience VORTEX VR released in 2023, as well as various art exhibitions.
For those eager to dive into this investigative adventure, Detective VR is available for pre-order on the Horizon Store for Quest 3 and 3S. The game is priced at $24 during the pre-order period, a discount from its full price of $30.
