In Synth Beasts, you find yourself in the shoes of a “Synth,” a botched experiment that manages to escape from the clutches of its creators on a mysterious island. As you venture across the surrounding archipelago, you’ll meet other Synths. But don’t expect a warm welcome—these Synths mean business, and you’ll need to defeat them in combat. Once you emerge victorious, these defeated Synths become your allies, opening up their unique skills for use in both battles and exploration.
In combat, using your Synths lets them gain experience points, helping them level up. Each Synth progresses through five levels, each offering distinct bonuses. As your Synth advances, it becomes harder to accumulate additional experience. So, it’s wise to rotate them often to get the most out of your team and unveil new abilities.
Take the “Psitek” Synth, for example. Right from the start, it can light torches. At level three, it learns a fire slash move to destroy incoming projectiles—a handy skill for tackling certain dungeons. However, further level-ups primarily enhance its battle prowess. So, you might want to sub in another Synth to gain new abilities more swiftly.
Early in your journey, you’ll snag a boat previously owned by the scientists, yours to commandeer! The Genesis Archipelago is packed with tiny islands brimming with hidden treasures like extra hearts, stat-boosting items, and currency for shopping. If treasure hunting isn’t quite your thing, feel free to head straight for the main islands to confront the scientists and dismantle their dubious operations.
While the main islands host boss Synths, some optional islands may have them lurking as well. Capturing all 40-plus Synths is quite the challenge, but every nook and cranny of the Genesis Archipelago holds valuable rewards for the diligent explorer.
So, gear up to explore the Genesis Archipelago, set the Synth Beasts free, and put an end to the nefarious experiments conducted by the scientists. Synth Beasts is set to launch in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and the Microsoft Store.
