As 2025 kicks off, we hope you’re diving deep into our January game of the month, Metro: Last Light, but it’s time to take a short break from the underground and decide on our next game pick for February.
Who can resist a brilliant sequel? Since February is the second month of the year, we’re revisiting last year’s theme, “Two for Two”—games designed for co-op play and featuring the number “two” in their titles. Last time, Gears of War 2 took the spotlight, leaving three great contenders. We’ve brought those back, and added a fresh choice to the mix, so let’s see who gets your vote in “Two for Two 2!”
First up is Overcooked! 2, a cooking chaos party game from Ghost Town Games and Team 17 Software. Released in 2018, this sequel spices things up from the original with exciting new gameplay and loads of multiplayer madness, perfect for a dynamic duo.
Head back to the Onion Kingdom with a group of chefs in local co-op or online play, and brace yourself to save the world once again! Overcooked! 2 has a solid rating of 4.11 out of 5 on TA, with nearly 280,000 gamers tracked. Only about 1% have completed all 26 achievements, which are available through Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming, taking around 10 hours to conquer the base game. Completing everything, including all 54 achievements, might take 20-26 hours.
Next in line, we have Unravel Two, a charming puzzle platformer from Coldwood Interactive and Electronic Arts which dropped in 2018. This sequel builds upon the original by weaving in a co-op option and is ready to play on Xbox Game Pass via EA Play.
In Unravel Two, let go of the past and forge new connections. Create your very own Yarny and partner with other Yarnys in local co-op or solo play, forming bonds as you navigate this captivating adventure. The game currently holds a 3.81 rating on TA, started by over 148,000 gamers. Fewer than 400 have earned all 28 achievements, with challenging speedruns adding to the challenge. Completing it all could take 25-30 hours, but lucky for you, vSully’s walkthrough is there to help smooth out the wrinkles.
Our third contender is It Takes Two, the only non-sequel entry in this list. Brought to you by Hazelight Studios and Electronics Arts in 2021, it’s accessible through Xbox Game Pass via EA Play. If your gaming buddy isn’t a subscriber, no worries! The “Friend’s Pass” lets them join in, although achievements won’t be unlocked this way.
Venture into a “genre-bending platform adventure” with Cody and May, a couple magically turned into dolls in a fantastical realm. This heartfelt and comedic tale pushes them to mend their relationship, relying on teamwork and trust to break free. It Takes Two boasts a stellar 4.61 out of 5 rating on TA and the highest completion rate among our nominees, with over 24,600 out of 218,000 players unlocking all 20 achievements in roughly 12-15 hours.
Lastly, we have an iconic addition—Portal 2. Valve’s 2011 sequel to the critically acclaimed puzzle-platformer isn’t on a current subscription but was the final Xbox 360 title in the Games With Gold program, so it might already be in your collection.
Return once more to the Aperture Science Testing Facility as Chell, armed with wit, reflexes, and a trusty portal gun, tackles a new series of challenges. GLaDOS is back, joined by new allies like Wheatley and voiced by J.K. Simmons as CEO Cave Johnson. Dive into additional co-op chambers with a friend, unraveling complex puzzles—all in the name of science! Portal 2 holds a phenomenal rating of 4.62/5.00 on TA, with over 272,000 players venturing in, and about 15,000 achieving full completion across 50 achievements in 15-20 hours. With help from N18p73pwn3r’s walkthrough and a companion, you’ll breeze through the tests.
