Bossa Games, the game studio nestled in London, has recently downsized its team, although the exact number of affected employees remains undisclosed.
Co-founder and co-CEO Henrique Olifiers shared this news through a LinkedIn post, explaining that the decision was made as they gear up for the launch of their upcoming title, Lost Skies. Olifiers mentioned that once this eagerly-anticipated project hits the shelves, the company plans to reorganize into smaller units, hoping this will pave the way for more frequent game releases down the line.
“We’ve had to face the tough call of scaling down our team to concentrate on the final production stages of Lost Skies and ensure its successful launch," Olifiers stated. "Our aim is to support and expand the game for players well into the future.”
With the launch underway, he went on to note, "Our strategy is to transition into smaller, independent teams that can work swiftly on fresh game ideas, bringing them to players as soon as they’re ready."
This challenging step has also meant parting ways with some incredibly skilled and valued team members who have significantly contributed to their journey. "We truly regret having to say goodbye to such gifted individuals in the gaming industry," Olifiers expressed with sincerity. "We hoped to navigate these choppy waters without resorting to scaling back, but unfortunately, that hasn’t been possible."
At the beginning of 2024, Bossa had already let go of about a third of its workforce.
