The Bigscreen Beyond is making waves in the world of virtual reality with its remarkably compact and lightweight design, crafted specifically for those who enjoy extended VR experiences on their PC. Priced at $1000, or available for as low as $32 per month, the headset itself doesn’t come with built-in positional tracking or controllers. It operates using the SteamVR tracking system, so you’ll need to invest in at least one base station—ideally, two—to get started, along with compatible input devices like the Valve Index controllers.
This minimalist headset sports a basic cloth strap and lacks built-in audio capabilities, not even including a headphone jack. However, it does feature a USB-C port for connecting audio devices. To enhance your audio experience and boost comfort, Bigscreen offers a $130 Audio Strap accessory.
When we got our hands on the Beyond, we were impressed by its small scale and excellent physical comfort, making lengthy VR sessions a joy without the usual face strain associated with many headsets. On the downside, during our review, we did find some issues with the lenses. While they strive for a sleek profile, they tend to create bothersome reflections and blur at times. Nonetheless, Beyond is at the forefront of a new era where comfort takes center stage in VR headset design, setting the trend that others are now eager to follow.
