Last Thursday marked a phenomenal surge in orders for Bigscreen’s latest offering, the Beyond 2 headset. The enthusiasm for this new PC VR headset was evident as it surpassed the sales of its predecessor, the Beyond 1, within just 24 hours. Remarkably, the first day’s sales for Beyond 2 rivaled what took six months for the original headset to achieve.
The numerical narrative was impressive from the outset. Within the first 25 minutes of the sales opening, the Beyond 2 had already outperformed the entire first day sales of Beyond 1. By the end of the first hour, it had doubled Beyond 1’s launch day results. Fast forward ten hours into the launch, and Beyond 2’s sales exceeded the original’s figures for its first four months.
Darshan Shankar, the ambitious founder and CEO of Bigscreen, took to social media platform X on Friday to share a particularly striking statistic: “In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold 10 times the number of Beyond 1 units that were sold on its launch day two years ago. In terms of revenue, it matched six months of Beyond 1 sales in just one day. That’s outstanding.”
What makes this success even more notable is the absence of any advertising spend. Shankar highlighted that they did not engage influencers, nor did they invest in costly agency-produced videos. The buzz was organic.
That said, the company did provide a small number of units—around ten—to select reviewers. This included well-known names in the VR community such as Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy.
If you haven’t already caught the specs, the Beyond 2 is available in two models. The standard Beyond 2 is priced at $1,019, while the version with eye-tracking, Beyond 2e, comes in at $1,219. Both models maintain the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays of their predecessor. The real head-turner is the expanded field-of-view (FOV) and enhanced clarity due to a newly designed pancake lens. The Beyond 2 offers a 116-degree diagonal FOV, a noticeable improvement from the original’s 102 degrees, and it features an adjustable IPD in a notably lighter 107g design.
Initially, customers were quoted April for Beyond 2 shipments and May for Beyond 2e, but as it stands, new orders are expected to ship by June.
