NVIDIA and AMD are reportedly ready to launch their budget-friendly GPUs in May, vying for control in the mainstream GPU market.
## NVIDIA & AMD Set Their Sights on the Mid-End GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT Models
For those on the low-to-mid-tier budget in the GPU market, choices have been quite limited. The latest generation options, particularly from NVIDIA, have seen low inventory, causing prices to skyrocket past MSRPs. Similarly, AMD’s RX 9070 series has been in high demand, making it tough to find one at MSRP. However, it seems like both companies are readying new offerings for mainstream consumers, as per a report from Benchlife, which hints at a potential launch by next month.
Let’s start with NVIDIA. They’re preparing to roll out the GeForce RTX 5060 by May 19. This model features an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM setup running at 28 Gbps through a 128-bit memory bus. One notable change is the increased power consumption — the RTX 5060 will have a 35W TDP boost compared to the RTX 4060. Here’s a quick look at how the RTX 5060 stacks up against its predecessors:
– 25% More CUDA Cores
– Same Memory Capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory (28 Gbps)
– Increased Bandwidth (+64%)
– 30% Higher Power Rating
On AMD’s side, we’re looking forward to the Radeon RX 9060 XT, expected to be revealed on May 21 at Computex, with possible retail release extending into June. This GPU will feature the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit interface and will be available in both 8GB and 16GB configurations, much like NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. Additionally, it boasts 2,048 SPs, which is half of what the Radeon RX 9070 XT offers. With game clocks set at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz, this GPU is sure to deliver strong performance for 1080p and 2K gaming.
We’ll be delivering live coverage of the NVIDIA and AMD GPU launches straight from the Computex 2025 show floor, along with any sneak peeks if possible. The competition in the mid-end GPU segment is heating up, and May could turn out to be a pivotal month.
