Minisforum recently unveiled their next-gen lineup powered by AMD Ryzen chips, showcasing a fresh MoTD & Mini PC that houses the Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range” CPU.
At the “Japan IT Spring Week” event, Minisforum presented an exciting range of upcoming products integrating AMD Ryzen CPUs, which included MoTD motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and NAS systems.
### Minisforum’s F1FGM MoTD Motherboard: A New Horizon for Desktop Builders
Let’s dive into their first offering, the Minisforum “F1FGM”. It builds upon the popular MoTD series with a new CPU upgrade. This mATX motherboard boasts robust heatsinks across the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and even features an IO cover. It’s set to succeed the BD770i and BD790i models, previously driven by Dragon Range “Ryzen 7000HX” CPUs, with the cutting-edge Fire Range “Ryzen 9000HX” series.
Powering this setup can be the impressive AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, sporting 16 cores and 32 threads based on Zen 5 architecture. It hits boost clocks of up to 5.4 GHz and packs 64 MB of L3 cache. Although it’s rated at 55W, this hybrid desktop-grade “mobile” chip can be cranked up to 160W on this board, ensuring a premium user experience.
There are options for other CPUs, including an “X3D” alternative, and for cooling efficiency, a vapor chamber baseplate accommodates the cooler since these mobile CPUs lack an IHS. A 13-phase VRM featuring a 60A SPS power stage ensures reliable performance.
On the specs sheet, the board supports up to four DDR5 DIMM slots in a UDIMM design, allowing for up to 256 GB capacities with speeds reaching up to 8000 MHz. The motherboard runs on the X870M chipset, a slight notch below the B850 series but still packing a punch. It has two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots, one supporting Gen5x4 speeds, and you get additional connectivity through two SATA III ports, USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7, as well as dual BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
### Introducing Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Power with Fire Range CPUs
Next in line is the MS-A2 Mini PC, leveraging the AMD Ryzen 9000HX “Fire Range” CPUs. This model is an extension of the MS-A1 series that featured Ryzen 8000G CPUs. Here, the creators haven’t held back, integrating high-end IO solutions like three M.2 slots (one convertible to U.2), a 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot suited for low-profile cards.
Unlike its MoTD counterpart, the Mini PC motherboard features two SO-DIMM slots, enabling up to 96 GB capacity at 5200 MT/s. The IO includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one USB 2.0 port, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and both DP+HDMI outputs.
### The Strix-Powered N5 PRO NAS: Ready for Any Challenge
Lastly, there’s the “N5 PRO” NAS, powered by Strix and armed with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, packing 12 cores and 24 threads, alongside a Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS supports up to five 3.5-inch bays with RAID configurations and a toolless design for easy drive management. It can be fitted with a maximum of 48 GB DDR5 SO-DIMMs and includes a single PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for a video interface.
Each drive bay convincingly accommodates up to 22 TB of HDD space, plus there are three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). Connectivity features include a solitary 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet, alongside three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum plans to roll out these innovative solutions in the coming months, so keep an eye out for further updates.
