As soon as Nintendo announced the release date for the Switch 2, they had to hit the brakes on preorders in the U.S. and Canada due to the chaos surrounding Donald Trump’s tariffs. After some back and forth, the tariffs were postponed until after the console’s launch, and Nintendo is now ready to let North American fans join the preorder frenzy.
Mark your calendars because retail pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 kick off on April 24, 2025. The best part? The console’s pricing is staying put at $449.99 for just the system, or $499.99 if you’re eyeing the bundle with Mario Kart World.
Fans of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will be pleased to know that the price tags for these games aren’t changing either—$79.99 and $69.99, respectively, at launch.
But there’s a bit of a hiccup. Prices for Switch 2 accessories are set to change from the original announcements made on April 2nd. Nintendo cites “changes in market conditions” for these adjustments, and it seems it’s not out of the question that other Nintendo product prices could fluctuate as well, depending on how the market behaves. You can keep up with the latest product and pricing details over at www.nintendo.com.
While price shifts are always a possibility, especially given the current economic climate in the U.S., it’s a relief to finally know when we can start our quest for the Switch 2. Don’t forget to ensure you’re set for preordering at Nintendo.com if you’re eligible. This way, you’ll have a fighting chance against the scalpers come next Thursday.
