Bloober Team is gearing up to introduce their new game, and on Wednesday, they unveiled a gameplay trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn. This sneak peek gives players a clearer picture of what’s in store with this upcoming sci-fi horror adventure.
Announced first at the October 2024 Xbox Partner Preview, Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person game heavily influenced by iconic predecessors like The Callisto Protocol and Dead Space. The game’s design is intriguingly described as a blend of “Eastern European brutalism and retro-futurist technology,” immersing players in a world where time itself is unpredictably twisting and turning.

Drawing attention in the trailer is a phrase that seems to be the game’s rallying cry: “Don’t let them merge.” This hints at gameplay mechanics where the foes you’re up against become even more formidable if they manage to combine forces. The game’s page on the Xbox store reveals that players must incinerate these creatures to prevent such merges from happening. This concept puts an intriguing twist on similar features from other games, like the original Resident Evil, where burning enemies was a survival tactic.
As someone who loves sci-fi survival horror, I’m eagerly following this release. While Dead Space seems to be in a quiet phase, despite the excellent remake by Motive Studio, I’m thrilled to see fresh developers diving into this intense genre.
Bloober Team, known for titles such as Layers of Fear and The Medium, has recently gained significant attention with their work on the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has been both a critical and commercial hit, surpassing 2 million copies sold by January 2025.
Though an exact release date is still under wraps, Cronos: The New Dawn is expected to launch sometime in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. Keep an eye out—this is one adventure you might not want to miss.
