In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players are in for a lengthy journey through the vast expanses of central Japan. Fortunately, a new feature, or rather a returning one, in the latest update allows players to mentally switch off during those long rides across the picturesque landscapes.
On Tuesday, the game received its version 1.0.2 update across all platforms, which fine-tuned the “pathfinder” feature for the protagonist’s mount. Now, much like in past titles such as Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, your trusty steed can automatically follow routes using the game’s navigation system, guiding Naoe or Yasuke seamlessly to their next destination. While this convenient feature now comes as standard, players can still opt to manually guide their horse if they choose.
In a move that’s sure to delight photography enthusiasts, the patch also ensures that the pathfinder’s GPS line doesn’t clutter up your scenic screenshots when using the photo mode. Alongside auto-navigation, you’ll find that horse speeds have been bumped up within cities, making for swifter urban travel.
This update also brings notable quality-of-life improvements that will make inventory management a breeze. Players can now sell or dismantle multiple items at once at shops or the Forge—perfect for those looking to streamline their gear management. Outside the Forge, a cap on frame rates within the Hideout has been lifted, freeing the game to run above 30 frames per second. Additionally, gamers on the PlayStation 5 Pro can enjoy improved visuals thanks to the addition of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution support.
Among other changes, players can now individually reset Mastery nodes within the skill trees of characters Naoe and Yasuke — a flexible alternative to resetting an entire tree. On the menu front, Ubisoft Québec has also introduced a nifty shortcut: holding the Options/Menu button takes you directly to the beautifully crafted objective board.
Interestingly, this update leaves untouched the legendary tanto, Igan Sunset, and its powerful perks. As noted by our own Tyler Colp, the weapon’s capabilities remain incredibly potent, allowing Naoe to effortlessly switch from one adversary to the next.
