Virtuix recently revealed an exciting addition to their Omni One VR treadmill system—a new app designed to let users virtually stroll through some of the globe’s most famous places. This innovative app, called TREKS, pairs physical walking with breathtaking immersive video experiences, offering trips to marvels such as the Grand Canyon, the bustling streets of New York’s Central Park, or the historic depths of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Set to launch on March 6th, TREKS is exclusively available through the Omni One Game Store. Developed by Virtuix Studios, the app will be priced at $30. At launch, users can anticipate exploring four main attractions:
-
Grand Canyon – Meander along scenic trails and feast your eyes on the awe-inspiring vistas of this natural masterpiece.
-
Niagara Falls – Feel the raw power of the falls, with views from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
-
New York City – Take a tour of iconic spots like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia – Immerse yourself in the rich past of Fort Masmak and the architectural beauty of Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios has also hinted at more to come, planning to release additional locations over time as downloadable content. Expect to see new landmarks, historical treasures, and natural wonders being added. Interestingly, they also mention that an hour spent walking in TREKS could burn approximately 500 calories.
"As you journey through TREKS, you’re not just observing these destinations, you’re actively moving within them," explains Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. "It combines fitness with exploration, making it a refreshing way to stay active while experiencing some of the world’s greatest locations. Fitness and fun truly come together in a unique way with TREKS."
The Omni One bundle, marked at $3,495, includes the signature VR treadmill and a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset is versatile, supporting native apps with its built-in hardware, and can connect to a capable PC for both wired and wireless experiences.
This development comes shortly after Virtuix announced that the Omni One now offers over 55 supported titles, including enticing additions like the Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. The system is also compatible with SteamVR games, thanks to the Omni Connect PC Driver, which provides customizable bindings and settings to tailor-make games for immersive walking which weren’t originally designed with this capability in mind.
