Schell Games and Innersloth have exciting news for fans of Among Us. They’re rolling out flatscreen support for Among Us VR (2022), opening the door for crossplay between VR enthusiasts and PC gamers.
In a significant update, the game is also getting rebranded to Among Us 3D. This change will introduce a first-person view for PC players, something that’s bound to shake up gameplay dynamics.
Schell Games shared that Among Us 3D will enable PC users to seamlessly team up with VR players. Whether you’re using Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, or Pico headsets, everyone can jump into the fun together, making it truly cross-platform.
It’s important to note, however, that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original 2D version of Among Us from 2018. The two games have stayed separate since Among Us VR hit the scene in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, Project Director at Schell Games, expressed enthusiasm about this new direction. “Among Us 3D is thrilling because we’re broadening the appeal with a first-person perspective,” he said. “Combining VR and PC players allows for all-new opportunites to outwit your friends—everyone can dive into the madness!”
Expect the rebrand to gradually take shape in the coming months. This will include updates across digital storefronts, websites, and in the game itself to reflect the new branding.
Moreover, Among Us 3D is introducing an in-game currency system called ‘Stardust’. Players will be able to use Stardust to snag various cosmetic items, a move the developers believe will help in grow the game.
While there’s no set launch date yet, fans won’t have to wait long to get a taste of what’s to come. The game will make an appearance at Steam Next Fest, offering an exclusive early demo to eager players.
