As Pokemon TCG Pocket continues to grow, fresh cards and events present players with chances to revamp their tactics. The upcoming weeks hold thrilling events for the game, and competitive players need to keep an eye on one in particular.
February has already been a bustling month for Pokemon TCG Pocket enthusiasts, with several new events enticing fans back to hunt for prized cards and enhance their decks. The Space-Time Smackdown Emblem event challenges players to showcase their most potent decks, while the Cresselia EX Drop event offers similar thrills. Additionally, the Wonder Pick event highlighting Chimchar and Togepi provides players with extra cards. However, the forthcoming event is a must-attend for serious competitors. Starting February 21, the Darkness Type Mass Outbreak will present an eagerly awaited opportunity to fortify decks with some of the game’s most formidable cards.
In a nod to the mass outbreaks featured in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, TCG Pocket occasionally spotlights a specific type, enabling players to explore rare wonder picks and browse themed cosmetics in-store. In line with previous mass outbreaks, the Darkness Mass Outbreak allows players to gather more featured type cards. This time, Darkness-type cards appear poised to offer a significant advantage, since Darkness-type decks are currently dominating the game’s meta.
Darkness-type cards have made a considerable impact in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Because the Genetic Apex expansion primarily revolved around Generation 1 Pokemon, there weren’t many Darkness-types available initially. Without any EX cards of Darkness-type Pokemon, forming competitive decks around this typing was challenging. However, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, focusing on Generation 4 Pokemon, has introduced formidable dark types that have quickly become favorites among players.
With the Darkness type now packing more punch in the game, decks featuring Darkness-type Pokemon are effectively outplaying the opposition in the current meta. Many of these new Darkness-type cards seem strategically designed to synergize, providing a solid foundation for creating powerful decks. Notably, the Darkrai EX and Weavile EX cards form a dynamic duo, acting as a devastating combo during battles. Both cards are user-friendly, require minimal energy for attacks, and can deal substantial damage if played wisely. Darkrai EX, in particular, inflicts damage every time a Darkness energy card is attached to it, while Weavile EX delivers 70 damage to previously hit Pokemon, allowing the pair to eliminate even EX cards effortlessly.
Apart from these two standout cards, the Weavile EX / Darkrai EX deck relies on other supporting dark types. As Weavile evolves from Sneasel, including Sneasel is crucial for the deck’s strategy. Another valuable card is Spiritomb, which can inflict damage across all opponent Pokemon in a single move, setting up Weavile EX’s signature attack.
These cards are expected to feature prominently in the upcoming Darkness Type Mass Outbreak, providing players with an excellent chance to harness the power of the game’s top deck. The remainder of the deck consists of various supporter cards, available through Space-Time Smackdown booster packs and the in-game store. With events like the Darkness Mass Outbreak and the launch of a new themed expansion at the month’s end, Pokemon TCG Pocket is well on its way to becoming a staple for Pokemon aficionados.
