NVIDIA enthusiasts might find themselves in for a wait when trying to snag the RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs from Overclockers UK, with the timeline stretching from weeks to potentially months.
The launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series has been nothing short of chaotic, often described as a ‘paper launch.’ Many retailers couldn’t even get a single RTX 5090 unit, and those few who did saw their meager stocks fly off the shelves within minutes of release. The RTX 5080 experienced similar demand, although slightly better supplied, it too sold out rapidly.
For those eagerly looking to buy one of these graphics cards, patience will be essential. Overclockers UK has announced that not only are these GPUs completely sold out, but they’ve also halted pre-orders. So, checking out the site for advance purchasing isn’t currently an option. The big question is, when will they be back?
According to Overclockers UK, the RTX 5090 might be back in stock within a time frame of 3 to 16 weeks, while the RTX 5080 could return in as soon as 2 weeks, or as late as 6. This suggests that at the worst, the RTX 5090 could be available by May 2025. By then, the RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 are expected to have hit the shelves, with the 5070 Ti launching on February 20th, and the 5070 following in March.
As shared by Overclockers UK in a stock update:
“The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are both out of stock, and due to tremendous demand coupled with limited supply, all 50 Series cards sold out nearly immediately. Here’s a quick summary of the expected stock timelines:
– RTX 5090: 3-16 Weeks
– RTX 5080: 2-6 Weeks.”
However, there’s hope for the RTX 5080 enthusiasts, as it might resurface in about a month. Despite a slightly better initial stock globally, demand was colossal. This GPU, while lacking significant generational upgrades compared to the RTX 5090, attracted buyers en masse due to its pricing parity with the RTX 4080 Super.
In fact, people have camped out, and some retailers even resorted to distributing lottery tickets just for a chance to purchase these prized GPUs. For those who ordered and haven’t gotten a confirmation from Overclockers UK, there’s a possibility of being caught in a pre-order backlog.
This high level of demand and uncertainty surrounding restocks is precisely why Overclockers has stopped taking further pre-orders for the time being. As for inventories globally, it’s hard to pinpoint when other retailers might see their stocks replenished; it’s clear that availability won’t improve overnight.
