Gaijin Entertainment, the well-known creators of the popular game War Thunder, has exciting news for VR enthusiasts. They are gearing up to release their new aerial combat VR game, Aces of Thunder, for PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets. This thrilling title is expected to soar onto our devices sometime this year.
Originally announced back in 2023, Aces of Thunder was initially slated for a late 2024 release. The game promises to bring to life an impressive lineup of some of history’s most legendary aircraft from both World War I and World War II for platforms like SteamVR and PSVR 2.
Gaijin has tantalized players with glimpses of a diverse array of planes from the WWII era. More recently, they’ve expanded their showcase to include iconic aircraft from World War I as well. Among these are historic fighters such as the Fokker Dr.I, best known as the chariot of the infamous Red Baron, and the SPAD S.XIII, flown by René Fonck, one of the Allies’ most celebrated aces. The developers are committed to delivering an incredibly authentic experience, complete with meticulously detailed cockpits, historically precise armaments, and lifelike flight physics to immerse players fully.
This impressive array complements the WWII aircraft roster, which includes venerable warbirds like the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, German Bf 109 and Fw 190 fighters, the Soviet IL-2 attacker, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.
Though we’re still waiting to learn the precise release date for Aces of Thunder, Gaijin Entertainment has mentioned to Road to VR that they’re now aiming for a launch sometime in 2025. Until then, eager fans can add the game to their wishlists on Steam or the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
As for the pricing details, that’s still under wraps. But stay tuned—we’re keeping watch for any emerging details about Aces of Thunder that might come our way.
