Snap, the creative force behind Snapchat, is making their newest AR Spectacles glasses more accessible to students and educators by introducing an impressive educational discount that slices the initial $1,200 price tag by half.
Released in September 2024, Snap’s fifth-generation Spectacles, named Spectacles ’24, are largely directed at developers, offered at a rate of $100 monthly with a one-year subscription commitment. This latest AR marvel has brought some noteworthy advancements over the prior fourth-gen model from 2021. Users are treated to enhancements like a wider field of view, superior resolution, hand-tracking capabilities, and a revamped software framework. However, the steep price remained a hurdle for students and educators eager to delve into the world of AR app creation and learning.
Appreciating the need for affordability in education, Snap is currently unveiling a special student discount that halves the total expense of acquiring these Spectacles. The new pricing model offers them at a monthly rate of $49.50, with at least a 12-month commitment, or clients can choose a single upfront payment of $594 for the first year. Beyond that, continued use of the technology is maintained at $49.50 per month.
To take advantage of this offer, interested individuals will need a .edu email or a similar address from a recognized educational institution. This enticing discount is available to students and teachers across several supported regions, including the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, and the Netherlands.
