Rumors are swirling that Xbox Game Studios is planning to bring some of its biggest titles—Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator—to the Nintendo Switch 2. These whispers about the follow-up to the portable home console have certainly caught the attention of the gaming community.
On a recent episode of the Nate the Hate Podcast, a seasoned insider known as NateDrake shed some light on this possibility. In a conversation with co-host Rand al Thor 19, he suggested that Xbox could play a significant role in the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2. According to NateDrake, Microsoft’s strategy for 2025 is to extend its multi-platform reach, potentially launching Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator on both the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 (Nate the Hate Podcast Timestamp: 53 mins 48 seconds).
NateDrake didn’t stop there, adding, “Microsoft is really gearing up to support the Switch 2 when it’s launched. They’re planning to update their current Switch library. So, you could see titles like Grounded, Pentiment, and the Ori games making their way to the Switch 2 with enhanced 4K support.”
He went on, “I also wouldn’t be surprised if we see games like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush appearing on the Switch 2. Essentially, expect to see quite a bit of Microsoft on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 as we move forward. But in terms of 2025 releases, Flight Simulator and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are the ones I’m hearing about.”
What remains unclear, however, is which Halo games will be included in this anticipated port. Will it feature just the first four—Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4—or will it also add Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, which were incorporated into the collection later on?
While speculation is rampant, what we do know for certain is that Nintendo aims to reveal its new console before March 2025, confirming that it will be backwards compatible with the original Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a global reveal before March 31, 2025, with a worldwide release anticipated the same year.
