At the CES 2025, NVIDIA made an exciting revelation: their cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW, is expanding to support Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3 and 3S, as well as Pico headsets.
What’s important to note here is that, for now, this doesn’t mean you’ll be jumping into VR-specific titles through a cloud. Instead, you’ll have access to a wider range of regular games that you typically enjoy on platforms like Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and various handheld gaming devices.
For those using Vision Pro, Quest 3/S, and Pico headsets, you’re in luck! You’ll soon be able to stream these games through GeForce NOW using a browser once the 2.0.70 update starts rolling out later this month, according to NVIDIA.
Once it’s available, NVIDIA promises all the enhanced features their tech offers, including the high-quality visuals of ray tracing and the power of NVIDIA DLSS. This iteration of GeForce NOW for VR sets will allow you to enjoy gamepad-compatible games on an impressive, expansive virtual screen.
One of the great things about NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service is the flexibility it offers. You can access it for free, though there are premium options available if you’re looking for a higher-quality experience. Their library boasts over 2,000 titles, so there’s plenty to choose from!
It’s worth mentioning that NVIDIA isn’t the pioneer in bringing cloud gaming to standalone VR devices. Back in 2022, Pluto VR introduced its own cloud gaming service on Quest with PlutoSphere. However, that service was removed from the store in early 2024 due to Meta’s crackdown on unapproved cloud streaming apps.
Later in 2023, Microsoft stepped into the picture, getting the nod to introduce its Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass library to the Quest, adding another dimension to cloud gaming on VR.
