The renowned handheld console manufacturer Ayaneo has just revealed the Ayaneo 3, its latest flagship device. Building on the positives of its predecessor, the new console maintains its familiar design and button arrangement but offers several major upgrades under the hood.
As detailed in a recent post on the Ayaneo blog, buyers of the Ayaneo 3 can choose between two processor options: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This model also boasts a stunning seven-inch high-refresh LCD or OLED HDR display, ensuring an engrossing gaming experience. To top it off, Ayaneo has introduced two additional buttons on the back of the console, expanding control options for users.
At present, Ayaneo has not released more specifics about the Ayaneo 3, leaving us waiting with anticipation to learn about its RAM, storage options, and pricing. If we look at the Ayaneo 2, the predecessor is available with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and offers storage options of 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. It was priced starting at $1,099, reaching up to $1,549 for the limited-edition B.Duck model. Based on this, it’s reasonable to anticipate that similar configurations will be available for the Ayaneo 3, albeit at a potentially higher price point.
This new console is noteworthy for being among the pioneering handheld devices to incorporate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip. While many games currently do not take full advantage of the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that comes with the HX 370, the processor’s four additional cores, its Zen 5 architecture, and AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU collectively push its performance beyond what the Ryzen 7 8840U offers. This could well position it above even some of the top-tier PC gaming handhelds, many of which operate on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
As Ayaneo 3 makes its way into the marketplace, it’ll have to contend with a slew of formidable contenders. We’re looking forward to seeing the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and the Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two soon, either later this year or by early 2025. It will be compelling to see how the Ayaneo 3 stands apart from the crowd and what kind of experience it brings to the table for handheld console enthusiasts.
