Great news for Xbox Insiders! The latest update now lets you stream the games you own directly from your console using Xbox Cloud Gaming, alongside some top picks from Game Pass. Although the list of compatible games hasn’t expanded, those of you with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription can fire up a selected number of games on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Microsoft has made significant strides in improving Xbox Cloud Gaming for those participating in the Xbox Insider program. Currently, it’s accessible for Insiders in the alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha preview rings. Around 50 games that aren’t part of Game Pass can now be streamed via Xbox Cloud Gaming. According to a recent announcement on Xbox Wire, Insiders in these specific groups can enjoy streaming their own games not only on Xbox consoles but also on PC, smartphones, and tablets across 28 countries. Just make sure your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is up to date to join in.
Console streaming was initially expected to go live next year, so it’s definitely a pleasant surprise that it’s available now. If you’re part of the testing phase, look out for the cloud gaming badge on your supported games when browsing your Xbox console library. You can easily sort your library with the "Ready to play" and "Cloud gaming" filters to see what’s available.
Microsoft has also hinted at more exciting updates, stating that "support for launching directly from the Store app and streaming in the Xbox app on Windows PC will be coming in the future."
When this feature was first introduced last month, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers could stream a selection of their games through web browsers. The current list includes popular titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, among others.
I’m eager to see this feature become available to everyone, possibly by 2025. What about you? Are you excited to stream your favorite Xbox Series X|S games via Xbox Cloud Gaming? Share your thoughts with us below!
