Here’s what you need to know about the server closures scheduled for January 2025, alongside our rundown of December 2024’s shutdowns.]
Xbox Server Closures for January 2025
Kicking off the year, the WWE 2K23 servers, which were initially supposed to close on September 30, have had their shutdown postponed to January. Both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One players will find the online features of WWE 2K23 unavailable starting January 6, 2025. This change means 13 achievements in each version will no longer be possible to earn. Also, keep in mind that this game is no longer accessible for purchase on the Xbox store.
Moving on to EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, its servers are marked for closure on January 16, 2025. This title comes with two online-exclusive achievements that will be affected: Playing For Fun and Playing For Rank. Achieving these is straightforward, requiring participation in an unranked head-to-head match, both casual and competitive. However, this game already has two achievements that can’t be achieved, making it impossible to fully complete for some.
Lastly, Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol will be shutting its doors on January 18, 2025. This MMORPG, once slated for a Western launch but now limited to the Japanese Xbox store, might not have been explored by many of you. With the servers going offline, all achievements linked to Blue Protocol will become unattainable.
In case you overlooked it, December 2024 is seeing the removal of 19 Xbox titles, including some major names. If there are any online achievements you’ve yet to secure in these games, now is the time. Share your thoughts or questions about these upcoming changes in the comments below.
