Nintendo’s latest announcement reveals a milestone achievement: they’ve sold over 146.04 million Switch consoles globally.
Despite a 31% drop in console sales compared to last year, with 4.72 million units moved in the six months leading up to September 30, 2024, Nintendo maintains that sales remain strong relative to other Nintendo platforms at a similar point in their lifecycle.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch now boasts over 1.3 billion game sales—a new peak for any Nintendo gaming platform. The company highlighted that gamers have played more software on the Switch than on any previous Nintendo hardware.
Wondering which games are reigning supreme? Mario Kart 8 Deluxe leads the pack with 64.27 million units sold. Following closely are Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 46.45 million and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 35.14 million copies. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has reached 32.29 million, while Super Mario Odyssey trails with 28.50 million copies sold. Completing the list, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have collectively sold 26.44 million copies.
In addition, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet achieved 25.69 million sales, while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom boasts 21.04 million. Rounding out the top ten, Super Mario Party has achieved 20.98 million, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe stands at 17.77 million copies sold.
