Hello, Xbox enthusiasts! We are thrilled to unveil that our latest game, Overthrown, is gearing up for its debut on Xbox Game Preview. Mark your calendars for December 5 as it launches on the Xbox Series X|S and PC, and yes, it will be available with Game Pass. If you haven’t heard about Overthrown yet, let me fill you in. It’s a city-building game but with a flair for the chaotic! You get to step into the shoes of an anime-style superhero and team up with up to five friends. Of course, you’ll still tackle the traditional tasks: constructing and defending your city against waves of mutants and bandits. Today, I’ve got some tips to help you make the most of the co-op fun.
To bring you up to speed, let’s dive into some backstory. With the mystical powers of an ancient soul-stealing crown, you can literally lift anything in your way. Whether it’s hoisting tall trees, dismantling monster nests, or even moving an entire sawmill to skim trees as you dash through the forest, your strength knows no bounds! You’ll also zip around with supersonic speed, have a legendary throw, and perform a spin attack so vigorous it propels you skyward like a helicopter blade. Now imagine wielding such power alongside five friends—sounds like endless fun, right?
To jumpstart your adventure, here’s how to maximize your co-op sessions.
One Crown to Rule Them All
When playing with friends, the Crown is for the taking, appearing on the map for anyone to grab. Grab it first if you can! While everyone will have Crown-related powers, the wearer reaps the most benefits, like an accelerated ability to perform awesome moves. You’re a team, but standing out as a top-notch team player is the real goal. There may be times when the Crown gets snatched away, perhaps by a slippery Tuskar or Outlaw, and this can be the perfect stage for a friendly race to regain it. Remember, though, Overthrown won’t let you resort to player versus player tactics, so no backstabbing allowed to nab the Crown.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Next up, focusing on expanding your city’s workstations is key, as more workspaces mean more citizens populating your settlement. With friends, delegate different zones and responsibilities—you may find citizens arriving sooner than expected. Jobs come in all sorts, so if building structures is your thing and combat is your friend’s thrill, dividing the to-do list should be a breeze.
Experiment
Last but not least, let curiosity lead the way! At its heart, Overthrown celebrates curiosity-driven gameplay. So whether it’s pondering ‘Can I do this?’ or ‘What if I try that?’, we say, go for it and see what unfolds! The game is brimming with interactive features designed to surprise and delight, guaranteeing loads of playful, spontaneous fun with your pal squad.
We hope you’re as excited to dive into the chaos of Overthrown as we are, whether you prefer playing solo or with friends. As part of the Game Preview, we’re inviting community feedback to refine your gaming experience. Begin your epic journey on December 5 when Overthrown arrives on Xbox Game Preview and Game Pass for Xbox consoles and PC.
(Note: In our earlier announcement, we mentioned a launch date of December 10; the correct date is actually December 5.)
